McCoy Center Celebrates Two Years of Community Impact
Since opening in February 2008, the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts has hosted 1,760 total activities and 243 public events drawing more than 70,000 attendees. Thirty-two groups, thirteen of which are based in New Albany, attracted more than 30,000 people. Seven of those groups attracted 75% of their audiences from outside Ohio, with most also using area hotels and restaurants to draw people to New Albany and the greater central Ohio region. Additionally, the McCoy Center’s professional programs have attracted more than 10,000 attendees and the McCoy visiting artists/lecture series serves more than 5,000 students of all grades within the New Albany Plain Local School District. The District use accounts for more than 60% of all McCoy Center activities. Furthermore, the McCoy Center has established partnerships with the King Arts Complex, Columbus Children’s Theater, Storytellers of Central Ohio and WOSU.
